News: A quick look at Xeonz' 'Talk To Me EP'

Broadcasting from Guildford UK, Xeonz presents his debut EP 'Talk to Me' out now on Surveillance Music. It is a pulsating, soulful 4 track release that cuts through the noise of today’s tech-centric Drum & Bass scene with a beautiful contemplative quality all its own.

This EP marks a pivotal moment in Xeonz’s musical trajectory. As he settles into his own Liquid-inspired sound palette; embracing his proclivity for minor chord structures, overarching moods and search for resolution in harmony. We find a personality and voice that underlies it all and creates a unique release which we’re excited to share today.

Exposed to music early on. Jamie’s creativity was fostered by car rides with his father who introduced the world of electronica to him with the likes of The Prodigy and Pendulum, at an age while he still was too young to have even entirely made his mind up about the existence of Santa Claus. From here Xeonz stumbled into music production remarkably young at the age of 12 falling in love initially with the sounds of Fred V and Grafix. After a decade of exploration and experimentation, creating future-house and bassline tracks reaching hundreds of thousands of plays, as well as releasing tracks with Blackout and Down 2 Earth music. A self-taught producer from the very beginning, Xeonz has found his own way into the sounds he makes today. By losing himself in the music he has discovered his own original voice in the scene which is a breath of fresh air.

With 'Talk To Me' Xeonz depicts a scene and overall vibe which harkens to the brand of music he’s making. The entire EP falls under the genres of Liquid Drum & Bass but the nuances and distinctions between tracks allow them to be memorable and touch upon different styles and production techniques. Each track offers something unique, but all sounds are cut from the same cloth. For Xeonz, it's important to express a consistent sound or spectrum of colour throughout an EP but also explores all the gradations within, bringing out the various shades of beauty that lie therein.

I’m not overly sound design oriented, I tend to focus more on cool ways to resolve chords. I also like adding plucks and little sounds that wouldn’t conventionally fit in the specific key, but they fit somehow within the track. It’s nothing overly technical but I enjoy using my limited music theory to be the main idea of the track. The best way for me to get all the way in, and create a vibe for a song is to visualize a scenario. Sometimes I create a scene in my head subconsciously when I’m making a track and build around the image of that. Visualizing the song as if it's an actual thing./ Xeonz on his process when creating music

It's a pleasure to share news about Xeonz' 'Talk to Me EP' on Surveillance Music, and we encourage everyone to check it out. It's been out since December 21st. Big ups Jamie!

Right in time for release day, we also took on premiering 'Pico' off the EP. Showcasing the sheer beauty of the whole release, the track thrives on lush scenery and brisk drum work.
