Premiere: Vici's '4 PM Break' EP on Transparent Audio

PremieresWritten by Daniel Aagentah on

Vici is a name that has been slowly pushing through the ranks over the past year. With previous releases on imprints such as Skankandbass, Hyperactivity Music, and In The Lab Recordings—with a unique style that represents a new era for Drum & Bass, it's no surprise that we now see the artist coming forth with a fresh EP on Transparent Audio.

Titled 4 PM Break, the 3-track EP is short and sweet, exploring a territory of rigid breaks, euphoric pads, and a general noir-esque feel to each track. Additionally, we see a special featured remix from Cauzer, another talent on our radar closing in with an ambitious catalogue.

Today, we're excited to premiere a favourite from the release. Vici's original track Before All That outlines another fresh take on Drum & Bass. The combined use of short-cut transient breaks, and an overpowering saw-based synth keeps the listener eager as the track switches between various emotions and ambiguous vocal samples—an all-round great track.

A great release all-in-all, and will be available soon on Transparent Audio's Bandcamp.

Mission Statement

This project is crafted to be open and collaborative. Through this, we seek to explore core themes within a structured framework:

  • Symbiosis: Can artists and communities have better relations?
  • Meaning: What matters in pursuing and preserving artistic influences?
  • Intersectivity: Are there chartable commonalities within art and technology?

By asking questions, we hope to observe something new; and with that, offer our own perspective.
