A look at Tesseracts' latest release on Symbiotik Records
Symbiotik Records have been breaking conventional boundaries with their keen focus on Neuro-Breaks. A unique genre known for its love for breakbeat percussive rhythms and gnarly “Reece” bass sound design; one of the signature marker of many Neuro related sub-genres.
The combination of these elements make for an aggressive and dance floor friendly genre which is so distinct that it can’t help but catch your ear and hook your interest. Making a resurgence with monolithic producers like Akov, Screamarts and Pluvio taking the reins and forming this label as a dedicated platform for this unique approach to electronic music.
In a musical scene saturated by drum and bass and dubstep, it’s incredibly refreshing to see this still largely unexplored genre making headway. The passion of the producers devoted to this genre is palpable in these tracks, and Symbiotik Records has become a home for those who love the sound as much as they do.
Today we turn to Tesseracts, a duo hailing from Poland who with this release take their explosive dance floor productions in a new direction. Putting together a succinct two track release "Overflow/Never Say Never". The quality of these tracks are evidence enough that these producers feel right at home within this niche genre.
'Overflow' ignites the A-side of this release with a sweltering soulful heater. The vocals on this tune steal the listener's heart as the beats propel one's physical body into a mad frenzy. Layering multiple subtly growing drops within the first half of the tune, the track takes on a transcendent anthem type quality, finding resolution in its ferocious breakdowns. The catchiness of this tune cannot be denied and I must say that I am obsessed with this song.
Following with 'Never Say Never', as the vocal sample indicates; from the outset we can't resist this upbeat and playfully uplifting funky synth production. The bouncey buildup with a diverse variety of drum fills and a keen attention to percussive details display the technical precision of these producers. Thick and funky slap-bass lines between measures providing a colorful contrast to the rapid neuro bass phrasing. Dynamically fluent neuro infused fills show that this is a language that these two are well versed in.
The integration of light and aggressive elements in these tracks make this release stand out as something unique. Together the harmony of all these elements make up an undeniably fun project. Any lover of neuro sound design and aesthetic will find themselves right at home with this release. Big ups to Tesseracts for their debut release on Symbiotik Records, we expect we'll be hearing a lot more from them in the future. We're super grateful for Symbiotik Records for honoring the eternal elements essential to the spirit of the Neuro-Breaks genre while keeping it fresh with novel approaches and unique inversions and from newer names like Tesseracts.
