PremieresWritten by Colin Benson on
Allow me to introduce ROI OS, a burgeoning force in the French Dubstep scene, whose music masterfully fuses French electronic innovation with the raw energy of modern Bass music. Presenting his debut release ‘Baby’ on the local Toulouse imprint Coliseum Audio, a four-track EP embracing storytelling through cutting-edge techniques, weaving atmospheric textures and sophisticated rhythms with elegance - creating an immersive soundscape with rumbling sub-frequencies and visceral bass movements that pay homage to the genre yet propelling it into new territories.
Located in the heart of France, Paris-based beatsmith ROI OS has meticulously crafted a unique sonic identity and has released with labels such as Bassrush, Circus Records, Interval Audio, and Monsters Music. His music speaks to both the culture and the dancefloor through his own experiences and vision - a true testament to France’s ongoing influence in global electronic music.
In the vibrant city of Toulouse lives Coliseum Audio, a label dedicated to championing forward-thinking rave and underground Bass music. Since its inception in 2019, the label has sought to push the boundaries of the electronic music scene, curating a sound that thrives on innovation and intensity. However, in 2023 they expanded their vision with the birth of AZAZEL, an event that now stands as a cornerstone of the label identity. Synonymous with the label, fusing its sonic ethos with an unforgettable live experience, cementing its place in the evolving world of French bass culture.
Today, we premiere one of our personal favorites from the EP, a standout track that masterfully blends space and the fusion of two distinct genres of music — ‘Doomer’.
"Inspired by Eastern European Post-punk, a style I really love and haven't seen anyone represent in electronic music. So I tried to create a hybrid between Dubstep and Post-punk. I deliberately made this track quite minimalistic because I wanted to create a contrast between the intro and the drop."~ ROI OS
