A look at Rantik's 'The Facade'
Following up on his previous EP 'Persona' on Incurzion Audio, Rantik is back diving into a new direction with his sound on his latest EP 'The Facade'. The 20-year-old Newcastle-based producer has been crafting his sound for nearly 3 years now covering all spectrums of drum and bass while honing his own sound in the process. We first caught wind of Rantik in early 2020 through a free download release on Incurzion Audio and have been looking forward to more ever since. Introducing himself with his debut EP 'Persona' in July of last year, we were intrigued by the versatility in his music. Striking a cord we kept our ears peeled.
Over the course of the year, we heard his sound develop more throughout a handful of singles. Few to mention, Hear My Rhythm a huge funky stomper on We Are Incurzion Vol.1, the first massive various artists compilation on Incurzion Audio. “Sonus” on the tremendous Stand Together charity compilation and “Predator” as a free download on Onyx Recordings. Around the same time of his debut single, Rantik alongside JAK launches their own imprint Northern Line Records in hopes to push the sound of up-and-coming producers around Newcastle as well as other international talents. Stay tuned for the interview below to hear more. “The Facade”, Rantik’s latest offering revitalizes his sound with 4 tracks that’ll take you on a flavorful journey.
Rantik sets the tone for his musical journey with his second EP on Incurzion Audio The Facade, a refreshing melodic voyage tethered with sugar-coated textures. The 4 track EP demonstrates Rantik’s proficient ability in covering different styles all while leaving the vibe flawless. Only the beginning for what’s to come from Rantik while he develops his sound even further but this EP’s smooth riveting sounds will have you rolling onward!
The opening track 'At All Ends' starts the EP off with its lush atmospheric synths transcending you to the rolling bassline. The subtle and sweet textures progress along the groove taking you deeper and deeper hitting you right in your soul. The airy feel to the track will have you feeling light as a feather.
Rantik rejuvenates his previous Incurzion release 'Hear My Rhythm' as a VIP in such a sharp manner while keeping the original vibe intact. The breaky drums align with the spacious atmosphere leading throughout the track in proper fashion. Rantik’s own vocals chime in before the grimey synth tears through, back angrier than before. The flow and rhythm of the mean synth takeover arousing an undeniable stank face.
The third track of the EP 'Colours' as you can observe from the title hints at what is about to proceed. The escalating warm melodic synths flourish while fizzy layers come in and are slapped with a poignant bassline. The melting melodic horn-like synths sweep throughout the track along the fluttering harmonics. The fuzzy vibrance created through the track will have the room glowing.
Lastly, 'As You Were' my personal favorite of the EP freshens it all up. The crunchy yet crisp synths ring in a radiant style while the ensuing sizzling textures introduce the incisive bassline. The synth-heavy melody of the track is carried by the breaks and drums sprinkled with the classic “Think (About It)” Jungle sample. Paired with the glistening textures is just pure bliss. The 4x4 build-up of the second half of the track aligning with the breezy atmosphere tops it all off. The utilization of the various old school and new school elements combined truly brings the sound of new-age Drum & Bass to life.
