Premiere: JAYSN's "Polaris"
Meet Jason Thu Ya Han aka JAYSN, a producer and event entrepreneur based in Yangon, Myanmar. Around three years ago, Jason and fellow Myanmar sonic-art producers founded Polaris Collective, they began hosting Drum and Bass events for their local arts community which took off, revolutionizing the Burmese electronic music scene. Expanding into all the realms of electronic music, they elevated these experiences over the years with their ‘Art Exhibition’ experiences with unique stage designs, visuals, and talents to provide their audience with an electrifying experience. After their 1st-year anniversary event, everything came to a new low and Jason was left with the company.
“Polaris was nothing compared to the entertainment giants and tycoons but me and all members were so proud about it cause it’s much more than 16-19 year old boys could achieve.”/ JAYSN
Long before all of this, at the age of thirteen, he began making music, his first creations were styles of experimental bass music which he eventually grew out of. His second approach was inspired by the sounds of Odesza, sparking his melodic soul where he went on to learn music theory, piano, guitar, and even violin. Fast forward to 2021, he was ready to release his debut EP but things changed when the Myanmar civil war broke out. The release date got postponed by the local record label he was signed to at the time, leaving him at a loss. He decided to take a break from music production, feeling lost with everything going on around him.
His previous works in the form of his debut EP, ‘ARTEFACTS’ were finally released this past November of 2023. During the creation of the Polaris Collective, his passion for music was rejuvenated, he pushed through his creative blockage to write music again and now has moved himself and the company to Bangkok, where he plans to create a new chapter for the events collective.
The track we are premiering today ‘Polaris’ is an ode to his experiences with the collective, signaling goodbye to the name before embarking on this new journey with the collective and his music.
This self-release is filled with emotions from start to finish, entering into the field of sonic space with a transcending atmosphere, leading with a motivational sample clip before clashing with harmonious drum breaks. Initiating its launch sequence over a rolling drum pattern, the track lashes out into a galvanizing reese bass, tearing through the familiar harmonics.
We’re honored to showcase this wonderful emerging talent and can’t wait to hear what the future brings for JAYSN. The track is officially out today so go on support.
The release will be available here.
