New beginnings with emjulate's 'Pestilence' EP on VALE

Being no stranger to the label since releasing under their alter ego ‘FLO’, ‘emjulate’ graces the stage with their VALE debut ‘Pestilence’ - a four piece exploration through atmospheric halftime and intricate drum & bass design. We invited you to become immersed in this mind bending theater of ‘emjulates’ sonic projections.

Tinker’ sets the mood with swathes of distortion and sci-fi vocal cuts, creating an unnerving yet groovy context. This is a truly remarkable introduction as we begin to cascade into the murky depths of ‘emjulates’ impressively peculiar sound design.

The succeeding ‘Petbot’ rolls you through the halls of the asylum steering you closer to insanity. Scattered footwork percussion displaces halftime rhythm with frantic pace and flow before an ominous vocal “you can’t get out of this unless I say so” cuts the tension and straps you in
with a swift transition to drum & bass technicality. A lethal dose to switch up the tempo.

The title track ‘Pestilence’ continues to stay true to the theme, retaining that eerie atmosphere with troubling vocal cuts that would set you on edge, if it wasn’t for the labyrinthine percussion that keeps pulling you in every other direction. It’s this equilibrium that truly keeps the sonics of emjulates production flowing so exceptionally.

MicroWaves’ lands as an all-out neurofunk banger modeled with such depth & stereo ingenuity. Uncompromising, energetic and flat out rugged. The way in which we arrive so naturally to such a huge track from where we started is true testament to emjulates dedication to theme and concept.

‘Pestilence EP’ is a masterpiece within its own right, and we look forward to the new ventures ‘emjulate’ has in store, as they continue to explore the uncharted world of sound design.
