Premiere: Uplifting beats by Casement on Dark Real Dark

PremieresWritten by Umut Avialan on

After guesting on Dark Real Dark's fifth anniversary at Gretchen, Berlin, Casement delivers pumping and uplifting beats for the label. This marks their first release in 2023.

Glasgow-based Casement 'is surrounded by a vibrant nightlife with a melting pot of sounds.' This reflects in his music and DJ sets fueled with sounds from worldwide. Inspired by Dancehall, Jungle, Hardcore and Jersey Club, his stuff has been tried and tested all over the UK, in Berlin, and Ljubljana. His productions have been released on labels such as Top Billin', Toddla T's Steeze and Nice Up! Records.

Dark Real Dark is a global collective with basically no genre boundaries. Their members are respected members of their local scenes and are deeply intertwined with promoting, producing or releasing music. Dark Real Dark so far has released music by 50Dix, Phil Murphy and skylin, to name a few. More recently, they've held events and floors in Berlin of which I attended the one where Casement played! Massive!

Casement's 'Division' draws inspiration from UK and US sounds alike. With a nod to Jersey Sound, this uplifting track will be released on Bandcamp Friday 7th of April.

Mission Statement

This project is crafted to be open and collaborative. Through this, we seek to explore core themes within a structured framework:

  • Symbiosis: Can artists and communities have better relations?
  • Meaning: What matters in pursuing and preserving artistic influences?
  • Intersectivity: Are there chartable commonalities within art and technology?

By asking questions, we hope to observe something new; and with that, offer our own perspective.
